Editorial independence
INA News makes editorial decisions on the basis of news value, verification, public interest and relevance to readers. Advertisers, sponsors, political interests and outside organisations do not receive the right to approve or suppress routine editorial coverage. Commercial material must remain distinguishable from independent reporting.
Accuracy before speed
Breaking news can develop quickly, but speed does not remove the duty to verify. Reporters and editors should confirm names, locations, dates, quotations and material claims with reliable sources. Where information remains provisional, the story should make that limitation clear instead of presenting uncertainty as established fact.
Sources and attribution
INA News prefers identifiable, first-hand and official sources where available. Documents, public records, direct observations and on-record interviews should be attributed clearly. Anonymous sourcing is reserved for information with genuine public value when identification could create a credible risk; editors should understand the source identity and the reason anonymity is necessary.
Fairness and right of response
Serious allegations should be presented with relevant context and an appropriate opportunity for the affected person or organisation to respond. A response may be added after publication when time-sensitive public-interest reporting cannot reasonably wait, but the article should be updated fairly when a substantive reply is received and verified.
Sensitive reporting
Coverage involving children, victims, private individuals, grief, health, sexual offences, communal tension or graphic events requires additional care. INA News avoids needless exposure, sensational detail and imagery that creates harm without adding clear public-interest value. Legal restrictions and personal safety take priority over curiosity.
Opinion, analysis and sponsored work
News reports should distinguish verified facts from opinion or interpretation. Commentary, analysis, interviews and sponsored material should be identified through their format, label or context. The views of a guest, interviewee or quoted person do not automatically represent the institutional position of INA News.
Accountability
Readers may question an editorial decision or report a factual concern through the INA News Contact Desk. Substantive complaints are reviewed against the published material and available evidence. Confirmed errors are handled under the Corrections Policy, while unresolved or developing facts may be clarified with transparent context.
