In preparation for Mahakumbh 2025, the Yogi government is implementing advanced surveillance measures to ensure comprehensive security throughout the fair area. In addition to licensed CCTV cameras and drones, high-resolution cameras will be installed on mobile towers, providing detailed monitoring of activities along the banks of the Sangam, various ghats, and major routes. This initiative aims to bolster the Kumbh Police's efforts to enhance the overall security system during the event.

It is noteworthy that during the Maha Kumbh, the entire fair area will be monitored by the Kumbh Police through over 2,700 CCTV cameras, with more than half of these cameras equipped with AI technology for enhanced surveillance.

According to SSP, Maha Kumbh, Rajesh Dwivedi, Maha Kumbh 2025 is expected to attract a significant influx of devotees, particularly during the main bathing days, when the numbers could reach into crores. He emphasized that every officer is committed to ensuring security in line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's directives to prevent any untoward incidents.

Dwivedi noted that for the first time, the Kumbh Police plans to employ three to four tethered cameras. These cameras, secured to large balloons, will be deployed at considerable heights to monitor the entire fair area. However, they must be lowered every six to seven hours for maintenance. To enhance surveillance capabilities further, high-resolution cameras will be installed on mobile towers, allowing for continuous monitoring without the need for frequent adjustments.

Dwivedi mentioned that the installation of numerous mobile towers across the fair area is currently underway. These towers will be strategically positioned near major sites, including the Sangam banks, crowded ghats, and primary routes frequented by devotees. The high-resolution cameras installed on these marked towers will have an extensive range, allowing the control room to capture critical footage of the fair area. This capability will help identify crowded locations for immediate police deployment and monitor any suspicious activities.

While the exact number of cameras to be installed has yet to be determined, Dwivedi assured that plans will be finalized soon to ensure implementation before the start of the Maha Kumbh Mela.

In line with the Chief Minister's vision, the Kumbh Police is dedicated to ensuring that Maha Kumbh 2025 is both safe and smooth. Every aspect of security is being addressed meticulously, with monitoring being a crucial focus. We are exploring various innovative ideas to enhance our surveillance efforts.
