Yogi govt sets comprehensive framework for timely completion of roads, bridges, and infrastructure projects in UP

• Project completion process will be ensured through Vishwakarma Portal
• Framework to track road safety, special repairs, and infrastructure projects across UP, PWD to submit final draft soon
• District-wise and assembly-wise lists of ongoing projects to be prepared under new framework
• DMs to oversee accountability and transparency in infrastructure projects with new PWD guidelines

Lucknow: In its bid to transform Uttar Pradesh into ‘Uttam Pradesh,’ the Yogi government has implemented a comprehensive framework to ensure the timely completion of all proposed roads, bridges, and infrastructure projects across the state. For the first time, a detailed district- and assembly-wise plan is being prepared at the beginning of the financial year for all construction and development works.

Under the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Public Works Department (PWD) is drafting an action plan to track ongoing road and bridge projects, special repairs, and road safety measures. District-level committees, headed by the District Magistrate, will prioritize projects based on public feedback and the needs highlighted by local representatives.

The framework includes all aspects of project execution: from tendering and work allocation to monitoring progress and final evaluations. It features a comprehensive list of ongoing projects with expected completion timelines, and the final draft will be submitted by April 30.
This initiative is scheduled for completion by April 20 next year. One of its key advantages is the assurance of transparency for citizens regarding construction activities in their areas, leading to more efficient and timely execution.

The detailed framework will be integrated into the Vishwakarma portal to track progress. Previously, only Executive Engineers had access, but now District Magistrates will also be included in the monitoring process to ensure accountability and transparency.
By refining its work methods, the PWD aims to streamline tendering, work and budget allocation, and coordination with central funding agencies, ensuring all projects stay on schedule.

Road safety standards being ensured, work underway on 1,400 black spots

• The PWD is also emphasizing road safety, alongside construction and repair work.
• A framework has been developed for both long-term and short-term improvements such as traffic combing, installation of signboards, lane markings, and the development of intersections, T-junctions, and bell curve turns.
• Out of 1,400 identified black spots across the state, work is already underway on 1,000 for long-term safety solutions. The remaining 400 are being addressed with short-term measures.
