Lucknow: In a significant step towards making Uttar Pradesh tuberculosis-free by 2025, government officials have now joined Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's campaign. Health department officials are set to adopt 125 tuberculosis (TB) patients as part of the state’s TB eradication initiative.
In a special program scheduled for Saturday at SGPGI, chaired by the Health Minister, these officials will adopt TB patients and distribute "Nikshay Potli" kits to aid in their treatment.
Parth Sarthi Sen Sharma, Principal Secretary for Health, Medical, and Family Welfare, highlighted the government's commitment to the cause. He emphasized that community participation, increased awareness, and transforming the TB eradication drive into a mass movement are key priorities in making the state TB-free.
"The government's efforts, along with support from various organizations, are showing promising results, and the goal of eradicating TB is within reach", he stated.
As part of the PM TB Mukht Bharat Campaign, the state is also running initiatives like the Nikshay Mitra and Nikshay Poshan Yojana, aimed at supporting TB patients. Under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana, TB patients receive Rs 500 monthly for nutritional support, directly credited to their accounts. So far, 3,30,985 TB patients in Uttar Pradesh have benefited from the assistance of 39,151 Nikshay Mitras.

The Principal Secretary urged the public to actively participate in making the TB eradication program a mass movement.
He called on all affiliated offices and institutions to raise awareness about the disease and ensure that TB patients receive all necessary support. "With collective efforts, we can achieve the goal of a TB-free state," he said.
