Lucknow: RIJWA Organises Samman Samaroh, Honours Former Information Directors and Retired Officers। 

The Samman Samaroh organized by Retired Information Journalists Association (RIJWA) was held here today at the auditorium of the Information Directorate.

During the programme former Information Directors Shri Rohit Nandan & Dr. Anup Chandra Pandey were honoured. Rohit Nandan was bestowed with the RIJWA Ashok Priydarshi Smriti Soochna Samman, while Dr. Anup Chandra Pandey was conferred upon RIJWA Umesh Singh Chauhan Smriti Samman for their excellent leadership and contribution towards the Information department.

Besides, eleven retired senior officers of the Information cadre were also given various Soochna Samman. Those who were honoured included Mess. Vijai Rai, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Ashok Kumar Bannerjee, Syed Amjad Hussain, Faujdaar Mali, Rajgopal Singh Verma, Dinesh Kumar Sahgal, Hamid Ali Khan, Smt. Gyanwati, Shiv Prasad Bharti and Dashrath Prasad Yadav.
Speaking on the occasion former director information Rohit Nandan recalled his tenure in the office. He said that information department plays an important role in creating government's image in public. He said that the media had undergone a sea change as far as dissemination of information was concerned. Introduction of mobile, computers and internet had played a keyrole in this change.

With the advent of social media like facebook, WhatsApp etc. it had effected more chages in the dissemination of information. Now, immediate reaction is needed on any issue, which is very challenging. Dr Pandey in his address recalled his time as the Director Information (DI) He said that the DI has to be always on his toes. He reecalled as how he had to go through newspaper clippings in early morning to know about all the important issues. Chief Guest Justice Raghvendra Kumar in his address said that information department plays a pivotal role in interaction with media. 

The Samman Samaroh was also addressed by President RIJWA Vijai Rai. He threw light on the capabilities of past luminaries of the Department. Samman Samaroh was conducted by Ashok Bannejee. Vote of thanks was given by RIJWA Secretary Ram Manohar Tripathi.
