Lucknow News: The Yogi government is leveraging technology to make governance more transparent and citizen-friendly, and its Sevamitra Portal is emerging as a game-changer. Developed by the Employment Department, the platform is not only making domestic services easily accessible to people across Uttar Pradesh, but is also creating strong employment opportunities for thousands of skilled workers, helping them become self-reliant.
Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, the state is moving ahead technologically while taking concrete steps towards becoming an ‘Aatmanirbhar Pradesh’. As of June 2025, the portal has recorded 39,857 service bookings, reflecting the growing trust and adoption of this facility among citizens. The Sevamitra toll-free helpline (155330) has also received over 38.49 lakh calls, further highlighting its wide reach.
The initiative aims to connect citizens with essential services like plumbers, electricians, mechanics, AC technicians, carpenters, and laundry providers at their doorstep, while ensuring skilled workers find employment near their homes. This reduces the need for migration to other cities and strengthens local livelihoods. With both objectives being achieved successfully, the Sevamitra Portal is proving to be a vital step in combining digital governance with economic empowerment.
Another key highlight is that service providers on the Sevamitra platform have received a total payment of Rs 27,53,794 directly through their wallets. This shows that the Yogi government’s initiative is not only benefiting consumers, but also providing strong financial support to workers.
Currently, 52,349 skilled workers are registered on the portal, many of whom are young men and women who had technical or vocational training but lacked the right platform to find work. Sevamitra has given them employment, respect, and the confidence to become self-reliant.
The platform is helping local workers find jobs while making services easily accessible to citizens. The entire system is digital and transparent. Consumers can book services through the website or mobile app, and the nearest registered service provider is assigned the task. After completion, users can rate the service, ensuring constant quality improvement.
The Yogi government plans to link more services to the portal and expand it to every district and municipal area. This will allow people in small towns and rural regions to benefit as well. The aim is to generate more local employment and make this initiative helpful for every section of society.
