Lucknow News: Yogi govt’s innovative push- Students use QR codes to drive eco-awareness.

Lucknow: Earth Day 2025 marked a new milestone in environmental stewardship across Uttar Pradesh, with innovative activities setting a benchmark for awareness and engagement. Spearheaded by the Yogi government, the initiative saw enthusiastic participation from Basic School students, who embraced a proactive and informed approach to protecting nature. In a unique tech-driven move, trees were digitally tagged with QR codes, allowing easy access to information about their species and ecological benefits.

The initiative went beyond simply sharing information through technology—it empowered children to grasp and apply the principles of environmental conservation in real life. Earth Day sparked a fresh wave of eco-consciousness across Uttar Pradesh, with the Yogi government elevating the event from a symbolic one-day observance to an ongoing campaign dedicated to long-term sustainability and environmental preservation.

To ensure the success of this initiative, the government leveraged WhatsApp groups for real-time monitoring across the state. This move strengthened coordination between schools and local authorities. With improved communication among districts, blocks, and schools, the campaign gained momentum and reached deeper into communities.

Now, schools are regularly conducting activities such as tree identification through QR codes, plantation drives, poster making, and slogan writing. During dialogue sessions organized at schools, students openly discuss topics like climate change, environmental protection, and the conservation of natural resources. Parents and community members have also become active participants in these efforts, giving children further encouragement.

Under the Mission LiFE initiative, the Yogi government has prepared children to act as environmental guardians. This approach has proven to be an effective way of instilling environmental responsibility among students, encouraging them to become aware and active citizens. Now, every child understands their role in protecting the environment and is spreading this awareness among others.

"Earth Day is not just a one-day event but a continuous commitment to environmental protection. The Yogi government is advancing it as an ongoing mission. Our basic education school children will now act as environmental protectors, not only spreading the message of greenery but also igniting awareness across the state. Every citizen's participation is essential in this effort."
– Sandeep Singh, Minister of Basic Education, Uttar Pradesh
